One day, Golden Records went away and all the children were very sad. :-( And the older they grew, the sadder they became. Not only could they not catch 2 minutes of a break from their ADD afflicted brat--er, I mean their lovely children--but they also missed some of the friends they'd grown up with. They missed them very much. :-(
But then one day, a man fell from the sky and freed these Golden Records from the vaults they'd been kept in. They'd been neglected for so very long that the man from the sky called in the very best doctors of sound in the kingdom. So skilled were these sound doctors, they were known as RE MASTERS. And so it was that these long lost friends from Christmases past were revived and refreshed--made knew again as if by magic. And the man from the sky called to all the kingdom's scribes and town criers, "Go forth and tell ALL the people that their friends have returned!" And so it was done. And there was much rejoicing.
OK, enough of that. I said, back when this album was announced that Verse Music Group was putting a new face on these old tracks by combining the original music with today's celebrity voices. I said that, to some, this would be like colorizing old Black & White movies (boooo!) while others would see this in the same light as colorizing old Black & White movies (yay!); it all depends on how you look at it. While I wasn't in the "booo" group, myself, I would be lying if I didn't admit that I was skeptical.....but curious, very very curious.
Well, having listened to the samples provided at Amazon, I have to tell you that Verse has done a wonderful job with this release--far better than anything I would have dared to imagine. It really does sound pretty awesome. Your kids are really going to dig this, I think. And I suspect you will, too--even if you are, right now, in the "booo" camp. Do not let "A Very Special Golden Records Christmas" pass you by. If you hold any nostalgia at all for the kiddie records of your childhood, I believe you'll immediately find room in your heart for these new treasures--these new friends. And then we will all live happily ever after.
The moral of the story is that "A Very Special Golden Records Christmas" will be released on October 16. The End.
