CANADIAN PACIFIC HOLIDAY TRAIN 13. Eleven Days of Rockmas Revisited - Odds
Since 1999, the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train has helped raise $4.8 million and almost 2.3 million pounds of food donations for local communities. And, for the first time ever, the Holiday Train has released an album--a rocking, Holiday music compilation featuring the Odds, Barenaked Ladies and special guests. All funds from the purchase of this CD go to support food agencies in Canada and in the U.S. Thanks for your support.
The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train is a seasonal tradition in Canada. Each year, the train sets out with performers on board and, at each event, the Holiday Train provides a box car stage, a line up of great musical talents and a corporate contribution to the local food bank. The community, in turn, is encouraged to donate food and funds, all of which stays in the community. This year's Canadian Holiday Train will feature Power-Pop band The Odds as the headliners, while the American Holiday Train (which basically dips just north and south of the Canadian border) will feature Lilith Fair veteran Melanie Doane and selected performances from Kelly Prescott.
As a new wrinkle, this year, there is this album, "Holiday Train Tracks", which features a wide swath of music ranging from hard rock to blues to folk. Canada's own Barenaked Ladies even donated their song "Footprints" to the cause, as well as participating in a few of the group numbers. Sure sounds like everybody had a good time.
Hard copy CDs do exist, but those of us outside of Canada may have trouble laying our hands on them, as they are in limited supply and will be distributed through Canadian food banks and pantries and sold at Holiday Train events. For the rest of us, downloads are available through CD Baby, though songs are not for sale individually (it's an album only item).
