Jack Johnson founded a record label several years back--Brushfire--just chock full of Rogue Wavers. Brushfire released their first Holiday collection in 2008, and I (for one) delighted in discovering new seasonal favorites from artists like Zee Avi and Matt Costa. Everybody had so much fun, they decided to do it again.
"This Warm December, Volume 2" bows on November 15th and is reportedly being released on CD and on vinyl. The set features 2 tracks from the man himself, Jack Johnson, including the brand new "In The Morning". The remarkable Zee Avi has a go at "Frosty The Snowman" and Matt Costa represents with "I Bet On Flying High". Plus one of the newer artists in the Brushfire family, eclectic Hawaiian vocalist Paula Fuga, will delight with the "Winter Swell Blues". Pre-order through Amazon or wherever fine music is sold.

Cyndi Lauper's latest incarnation finds her in full Memphis Blues glory, as evidenced on the 2010 album "Memphis Blues". Now out promoting the upcoming DVD release, "To Memphis With Love", Cyndi has let drop that we can look forward to a new digital Christmas single from her this year. "I did a Christmas single with my Memphis band and Norah Jones, ‘No Place Like Home for the Holidays,’ to benefit the True Colors fund. And I did ‘Blue Christmas’ just because I like it. They’ll be on iTunes."
Cyndi's last holiday effort, back in 2008, was the punkish duet with the Hives, "Christmas Duel".

And Jayma Mays, who plays OCD-afflicted school counselor Emma on TV's "Glee" has recorded a duet with Matthew Morrison (Will Schuester) on the show's upcoming (second) Christmas album. Mays told TVLine that the two paired up to record an original number written by the show's music producer Adam Anders. The song is not scheduled to appear in the show...just on the record.
