This could be interesting. Kristine Mirelle is an emerging artist from the lands of New Mexico and Nevada. Her style, thus far (at least what I've heard), has been a sort of soulful pop (or poppy soul) that has been called "burlesque pop" (for some reason...probably marketing). But she has a classical background (International Guild Pianist at the age of 13) and, if you listen to her stuff (even the borderline Hip Hop stuff), there's definitely a bit of a classical or neo-classical undercurrent. Listening to the clip of "Ave Maria", you get the feeling that Kristine is the kind of an artist who could actually find themselves and blossom doing a Christmas record. I mean, once she gets that stew of sounds--pop, Latin, Hip Hop, jazz, R&B, bubblegum (as a bubblegum child, I loved "Kandy"), and classical--seasoned just right, she could be something truly special. (At the moment, she's still just simmering.) The Christmas record is likely to be digital only, though, and that's always a bummer.
I love Christmas, music, and cats. What more do you need to know?
