I love The Very Most. They typify everything that's best about Indie Pop music--stripped down arrangements, easy vocal stylings, and sweet sweet tunes. I first came across them on Indicater's first Christmas comp in 2008 wherein they performed "This Year, Christmas Came November 4th". By the time they released their "Winter" EP in 2009, I was in Indie Pop love. Between their remarkably fresh arrangement of "Away In A Manger" and the original delight"When Does The Goodwill Start?" (which sounds like a lost Beach Boys track without the overproduction), I could not have wished for a better present.
This year, The Very Most has a new holiday EP, "Snow Covered", set for release both digitally and on CD on December 3, with half the proceeds going to the Idaho Foodbank. The four song set will include covers of the Beach Boys "Little Saint Nick", Gorky's Zygotic Mynci's "Christmas Eve", and this super furry classic from The Wombles (who are releasing their own version in the UK in an effort to topple Simon Cowell's X Factor contestants from Christmas #1).
I knew The Very Most were cooking up something for Christmas time, but this is just too scrumptious. Join them on Facebook to celebrate the release of "Snow Covered" and head to mp3hugger for an early taste, "Wombling Merry Christmas". While you're there, enjoy the video of "Away In A Manger"; I'm guessing it'll be on our front page before too long.
