What did happen was that Jewel--who has gone her own way of late--offered up a Christmas medley as a free download to members of her fan club EDA (Every Day Angels). It was, as I recall, posted on or immediately adjacent to Christmas Day. I downloaded it and proceeded to forget all about it. Until the other day.
As far as I can tell, all of the previous EDA downloads remain available. So you can still head over to Jewel's web site, register for the EDA club (its free, of course) and then download yourself some exclusive Jewel music and lyrics including "Ave Maria/O Holy Night". Jewel's Christmas gift runs 5 minutes and 17 seconds and is done in a solidly traditional--almost operatic--style (you might not even recognize her voice until she gets to "O Holy Night"). There's also a "Christmas card" you can download featuring a line drawing by Jewel, should such a thing be of interest to you. And, as this EDA thing is fairly new, perhaps we have the prospect of more exclusive Jewel Christmas music yet to come. I certainly hope so.
