What, Amazon again? Well, when the gettin's good... This tip originated at Largehearted Boy which is another great blog to check out for free and legal downloads. LB doesn't distinguish between holiday and non-holiday downloads, but he's generally got a ton of good stuff. And, since I don't check there nearly as often as I should, you'll probably even find a lot of stuff I don't.
In this case, one of the classic Indie Pop/Rock bands--Eisley (whose recording of "The Winter Song" is an Indie Christmas classic)--have recorded my favorite holiday song, "Oh Holy Night". It's a free download at Amazon from the Texas DuPrees. If you're feeling ambitious you can try tracking down all the other Eisley Christmas songs--"White Christmas", "White Christmas Nightmare", "Walking In Air", and "O Come Emmanuel". "The Winter Song" is available on "Happy Christmas, Vol. 4" and "Maybe This Christmas Too". The original version comes from the band's 2003 EP "Marvelous Things".
