But, once in a while, something turns up over at Amazon that you might overlook--no matter how thorough your search. And here we have just such a thing.
I've run across Caspar Babypants before...a few times in fact. Among other things, Caspar Babypants had a track on last year's free Cigar Box Nation holiday set. I still don't know what to make of him. Caspar Babypants is the stage name of Seattle's Chris Ballew and, ostensibly, Chris makes children's music. But this isn't like any children's music I've ever come across (remember, I really don't get kids music...never did...still don't). This stuff is actually really good. It's catchy and infectious and, quite frankly, pretty progressive Indie music.
"I Wanna Be A Snowman" is a track off the most recent Caspar Babypants album, "Sing Along". But it's also included in a free Burnside Distribution sampler that also includes a bunch of other great stuff including a track from The Verve Pipe. Musically, "I Wanna Be A Snowman" sounds a bit like Brave Combo singing the Doors' "Alabama Song". It'll get into your head and it'll stay there. Go ahead, give it a whirl. And, hey, it's free.
