![]() I gotta be honest with you. This one does nothing whatsoever for my head. Don't care for it. But I see that its quite popular with others and the band has made it available as a free download from Noisetrade and in the widget on their home page (above). Lovedrug is an Indie Rock band out of Ohio and I've listened to their other stuff and I like them. So it's not the band. But I've always pretty much hated "Blue Christmas" with a passion. As a song, I think it truly sucks. Someone recently asked me my least favorite Christmas song and I said "Christmas Shoes", but I probably should've said "Blue Christmas". Nobody ever sings it like they mean it and it's pretty lame regardless. I wish I could blame Elvis for this, but the song was popular before his craptastic take. And Lovedrug bring nothing fresh enough to that table to make me set aside an exception for them. Now, if you're not a hater, and you use the widget, you'll be directed to their Pledge Music page, as Lovedrug is raising money to put out an album. And people who pledge (I think $15 is the minimum) will get (in addition to a copy of the forthcoming album, of course) access to download two other Lovedrug Christmas songs (so far) which are sooo much better than "Blue Christmas", it's not even funny. They do a very nice cover of Tom Petty's "Christmas All Over Again" and a fantastic version of "The Christmas Song". You can listen to all 3 of Lovedrug's Christmas songs on PureVolume. Too bad "Blue Christmas" is the freebie. Blech!
